Top 10 Adventure Activities in Dubai

1. Skydive Over the Palm

Dubai’s skyline is renowned worldwide, thanks in no small part to the Burj Khalifa – the world’s tallest structure for over 15 years! What better way to see this unbelievable cityscape than from 13,000 feet above?

Skydiving in Dubai offers a unique opportunity to freefall over the iconic Palm Jumeirah with views stretching past the city to the desert on one side and out to the azure waters of the Arabian Gulf on the other.

There’s no need for any experience to get started with Skydive Dubai, so whether you’re a seasoned skydiver or a first-timer, they’ve got you covered. As a beginner you’ll be jumping in tandem with the experienced instructors.

For an extra fee you can even have someone jump with a GoPro to film your jump. They do a great job with a neatly edited video – the perfect memento to relive that blood-pumping moment.

Where: Skydive Dubai, Al Seyahi St, Dubai Marina, Dubai

When: 8:00am – 2:30pm every day

2. Scuba Dive Indoors – World’s Deepest Pool

Deep Dive Dubai offers a one-of-a-kind experience for scuba divers – an enormous underwater world with a sunken city theme. The structure itself is an architectural wonder, boasting a depth of 60m (196ft), equivalent to a 20-storey building. This colossal pool holds a staggering 14 million liters of fresh water, making it not only the deepest but also one of the largest indoor pools anywhere on Earth. It’s also the only facility in the world where you can dive to 60m which is beyond normal recreational diving depths.

Experienced divers can explore the tunnels and rooms discovering the many sculptures and activities like foosball, a pool table, exercise bikes, and a full-scale model Mercedes-Benz! But it’s not only for qualified divers, beginners can also take part at Deep Dive Dubai. With the Discover course, you can go from zero experience to a 12m dive with an instructor.

Where: Deep Dive Dubai, NAS Sports Complex, Dubai

When:  9:00am – 6:00pm every day

3. Mini Speedboats

Take to the waters and whizz around Dubai’s crystal-clear bays on your very own mini speedboat. This unique experience allows you to navigate Dubai’s coast while enjoying the city’s stunning skyline from a new vantage point.

Starting in the calm waters of The Palm Jumeirah, you can get to grips with the new craft while admiring the luxury accommodation and unique architecture before taking to the open waters. The boats are really easy to control and again no prior experience is needed.

Where: Seamocean, East Sofitel the Palm, Crescent Rd, The Palm Jumeirah, Dubai

When: 9:00am – 5:30pm every day

4. eFoil – Electric Flying Surfboard

If you’ve never seen one of these things, the eFoil combines surfing with flying, offering an exhilarating experience above the water. This electric-powered surfboard hovers above the surface on a stalk, allowing riders to glide across the waves.

It’s a futuristic sport that’s gaining popularity in Dubai’s waters as well as elsewhere and it’s easy to see why. With a very steep learning curve, it’s one of those activities you’ll either love or hate. For us, we couldn’t wait to get back on each time to attempt more speed and a longer ride. The balancing is extremely sensitive, so one false move and you’ll be thrown into the water resulting in the ‘climb of shame’ to get back on the board.

Where: Seamocean, East Sofitel the Palm, Crescent Rd, The Palm Jumeirah, Dubai

When: 9:00am – 5:30pm every day

5. Waterparks – Aquaventure & Wild Wadi

Dubai is home to some of the world’s best waterparks, with Aquaventure and Wild Wadi standing out as the highlights. Both parks offer a wide range of slides, ranging from serene to extreme, ensuring that adrenaline junkies won’t be disappointed.

Here are some of the craziest slides and rides that they have to offer:

Leap of Faith (Aquaventure) – Not for the faint-hearted, this near-vertical drop slide will take your breath away with a 9-storey plunge which then takes you through a clear tube surrounded by sharks – although you’ll be travelling too fast to notice anything!

Poseidon’s Revenge (Aquaventure) – Taking it up a notch further, the floor falls away sending you plummeting at nearly 40mph before being thrown upside down.

Jumeirah Sceirah (Wild Wadi) – One of the tallest and fastest free-fall water slides, you can reach a reported 50mph as you plummet down this 120m (400ft) drop.

Wipeout and Riptide (Wild Wadi) – Take to the water on a body board as 7 tonnes of water per second is fired at you creating a realistic wave effect.

Where:

Aquaventure Waterpark, Atlantis The Palm, Crescent Rd, Dubai

Wild Wadi Waterpark Jumeirah, Jumeirah St, Umm Suqeim 3, Dubai

When:

Aquaventure: 9:45am – 6:30pm every day

Wild Wadi: 10:00am – 6:00pm every day

Top Tip: Aquaventure offer free entry on the week of your birthday, plus 20% off for another person. So, if you happen to be there during that time, be sure to take advantage.

Dune bashing is a quintessential Dubai experience, offering an exciting way to explore the vast Arabian Desert. Take to the sand in a 4×4 vehicle, where expert off-road drivers navigate the ever-changing dunes.

It’s an exhilarating way to explore the desert’s beauty at your own pace and a side of Dubai that you don’t often think about in the city. You can combine quad biking with dune bashing on some trips. However, if you have the time, you could opt for two separate trips, allowing you more time on the quads.

Snow in the desert sounds crazy, until you remember it’s Dubai we’re talking about – anything’s possible. This remarkable feat of engineering will transport you from the Arabian Gulf to the top of the Alps in minutes.

Located in one of the largest malls in Dubai, Ski Dubai is equipped with five ski runs, a snow park, and even offers penguin encounters. If you’re looking for an escape from the desert heat, you couldn’t ask for much more than this. Whether you’re skiing, snowboarding, or just playing in the snow, it’s certainly a unique adventure in Dubai.

9. Kayaking at Hatta Dam

Although it’s 80 miles from the city, Hatta Dam is located in a small enclave of Dubai near the Omani border. If you’re renting a car, it’s a beautiful and easy (though admittedly longish) drive into the Hajar Mountains. If not, you can book a Hatta Tour from Dubai.

For a more laid-back adventure, kayaking at Hatta Dam offers breathtaking views and a tranquil setting. The dam’s turquoise waters, surrounded by the barren mountains, provide a serene escape from the city. Kayaks, paddleboards, and pedal boats are available for rent, making it easy to explore at your own pace.
